BASH FITNESS TUSCALOOSA MISSION

BASH Fitness + Reformer Pilates combines mindful movement to empower women through a complete and unique method of motion. We motivate, inspire, and strive to elevate clients in their minds, bodies, and spirits which lifts them into the the best version of themselves, through science-based, result driven workouts.

WHAT IS REFORMER PILATES?

Each apparatus was designed to help accelerate the process of stretching, strengthening, body alignment and increased core strength with sculpting techniques created in the BASH METHOD. The best-known and most popular apparatus today, the Reformer, was originally called the Universal Reformer, aptly named for “universally reforming the body”.

Sense of accomplishment: Reformer Pilates exercises often require precise form and technique, which can be challenging to master. As you progress in your practice and become more skilled at the exercises, you may feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that can be addictive.

BASH Reformer Pilates is a hybrid of classical pilates mixed with BASH METHOD full body flows that lengthen, strengthen and tone all muscle groups.  The BASH METHOD uses pyramid, ladder and pattern counting in the movement, along with a wide variety of bands, balls, and weights to keep the body guessing what’s next.  You will never repeat a workout and never get bored with the classes.

WHAT IS A PILATES REFORMER?

The reformer was invented by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates. It is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs.

Springs provide choices of differing levels of resistance as the carriage is pushed or pulled along the frame.

The carriage has shoulder blocks on it that keep practitioners from sliding off the end of the reformer as they push or pull the carriage.

At the spring end of the reformer, there is an adjustable bar called a footbar. The footbar can be used by the feet or hands as a practitioner moves the carriage. The reformer also has long straps with handles on them that are attached to the top end of the frame.

They can be pulled with legs or arms to move the carriage as well. Body weight and resistance of the springs are what make the carriage more or less difficult to move. Reformers parts are adjustable for differing body sizes and different levels of skill.

THE UNIQUE BENEFITS OF A PILATES REFORMER

The Pilates reformer is an amazing piece of apparatus like no other, which helps you to find length and space in the body while under spring tension. Far from just a workout for your core, this piece of apparatus helps create internal pressure to elongate the spine, joints and muscles which then leads to greater flexibility, strength, stamina and a more balanced posture. This type of physical and mental workout is even more relevant now due to lifestyle factors such as long working days, being seated for long periods of time, and mental health aspects, to name just a few.

PILATES IS SUITABLE FOR ALL

Pilates is for anybody and everybody – and the reformer doesn’t discriminate; it’s there to help us all.

From rehab clients that need the support of the springs to enhance their recovery, to desk workers that sit too much, pro athletes and anyone on a pre- or postnatal fitness journeys to those looking to truly sculpt and reform their bodies. Reformer Pilates is complementary to all lifestyles.

PRACTICE MEANS PROGRESS

Like any other sport or discipline, to become better at Pilates you must practice. We recommend at least twice a week to get to grips with the reformer and get oriented with the workings of the machine. But then, the more you can practice the better you will become.

Pilates is laced with unique, fun movement choreography which at the start can seem daunting. But in time, as you become more familiar with the Pilates method, you’ll be moving using the deepest muscles of the mind and body that you didn’t even know you had. The results are incredible.
